Things I look into: Vintage style & Manipulation of Element
Taking this example as my reference is because I am working on a traditional morning market in Malaysia. They both have the similarity which is the daily routine of that particular place and has been inserted into the blood of the local people. In this example, I am looking at how it shows the sense of a tradition place through creating vintage looking style and mixing of the routine element of what people could observe when they first get to that place.

This example is similar to our project 2 in terms of combining different elements into one, but this is way more interesting. Playing with scale and size of a kid on top of the mountain. Since that I want to emphasize on the people of morning market, this could be a way to express their friendly and happiness.
Process
Take Photos
Morning market PJS7 open every morning except monday. I went to the morning market in the early morning, to know how they start to unloading goods and preparing goods to sell. At 6:30 a.m. , people started to come and buy things, mostly housewives to buy breakfast and vegetables. At 7:00, which is the most crowded session, cars are passing by and lots of officers and students come and grab their food either is by leg or by car. After 7.30a.m, people started to become lesser but another turns of housewives coming after their jogging in the morning until 9.00 a.m.. Stall started to clean their area and leaving at this time.

Since I want to show the friendliness and happiness of the people there, I have chosen most of the photos with their real expression when in the morning, there is a happy old lady, and a tired indian mother follow by her three kids and they seems like still sleepy, the kind lady, and a smiling lady with her motorbike.
Collage
In terms of to create vintage style, I have adjust all images into a yellowish like layer and added the old paper texture just to make them fit into the vintage style that I want to create, and also to to shapes the characteristic of surreal artwork. Adding noise into it to brings down the graphic quality helps a lot in showing sense of a old movie poster. The newspaper as the background really brings the experience of the audience into the old century.
Final Artwork
This artwork is to give a sense of place which is morning market, I captured the moment when people are coming to buy grocery or to grab food.
Perspective, Direction & Movement
Firstly, you will see the overall of the morning market at the bottom part, with people buying food, walking on the road and looking around the stalls. Yellow lines are to enhance the perspective and increasing depth to it.The perspective of the road helps in guiding the visual flow to the lady on her motorbike. The person walking towards her also showing directional movement to help in guiding visual path.
Contrast
This artwork is focusing on the happiness and friendliness of the people when you actually get there they will all treat you kindly. When your visual flow wa guide to the upper part, you will notice that there is two ladies smiling and showing their face. This is to make them stand out from the artwork. The contrast of showing face and not showing face, contrast between the saturation of people- lady on the bike is more lively compare to others.
Texture
The overall texture is applying the old yellowish paper to create the felling of vintage style. Newspaper as the background helps to brings audience into the scene of a tradition of morning market which is the routine for local people and has continuing for more than 30 years.
Scale & Size
Playing with Scale and Size and also beware of the detail such as creating the shadow for the people passing by has done a great job in terms of blending in the characteristic of a surreal artwork.

If I want to focus on the people then I should more look at their expression and capture what is happening at that moment. It is like freezing that moment and capture it into my artwork.
