In this project, we are to create a surrealist photo by using one photo with main subject, and additional not more than three layer of photo to achieve the outcome. The objective of this project is to create a believable image with our own idea. The image resolution should be 1200 x 1800 pixel, either landscape or portrait.
Brainstorming
Figure 1.0 Sketches of Ideas
Idea 2: A person who is summersed in the book with hands pulling him. This is more towards a horror artwork.
Idea 3: A growing hands which every single finger can grow another hand and continue and continue growing...
Honestly, only Idea 1 has something symbolism and mean something, Idea 2 and 3 is just a blink of imagination. After seeking feedback during tutorial session, Mr. Jeffrey has suggest me to go with Idea 1. Few feedbacks I get are the composition could be improve more and only three masks hanging on the wall enough, no need to place it until full. Besides, I could add motion into it through adjusting the man to wearing mask.
Photos Taking
After I have a approved Idea, i proceed to take pictures of myself in variety of emotion without hair covering part of my face as the mask should not have hair attached on it.

Combining
Figure 5.1 Adding mask and adjusting colour to match the background, creating a hole with strips passing through it
Figure 5.2 Adding Reflection of Faceless me in the mirror with gaussian blur effect as it is not focusing point, as well as to blend the face part smoother.
Figure 5.3 Adding a mask and adding the gaussian blur effect as well.
After seeking advice from Mr. Jeffrey, he told me to show part of the finger so that audieces will know that I am wearing a mask or taking off a mask. As well to add some foreground e.g. to show part of my body.
Figure 5.4 Adding fingers to show I am holding the mask
Figure 5.5 Adding part of my shoulder to insert foreground and hence create depth to the overall composition
Overall has matching the colour of the background and because of with the toner in front so that it feels like a skincare or foundation advertisement, which is a happy accident that I didn't expected at the very beginning. But as I more and more getting to the end and keep on refine it, i am really happy with the outcome that I have achieved. Although I want to create a dull and depressed environment but the other background didn't work well.
