When talking about adaptability, it is the ability of a logo to be able to sit on different media or medium. For example, complex background, environment, different print material. Good to see the afford to spend in the logo collections, well to notice on the adaptability of the logo in different platform, could give brand critique based on professional knowledge.

Good to see that I relate the research to my own topic, which is farm and modern emblem design.

Individual Feedback:
The strength in my sharing session today is I was able to analyze it critically, identify the design decision and able to extract things that I learn from it. But I need to be more focus on my own topic, which is a recreation place for people to experience working, harvesting.

Week 06

Individual Feedback:
It is good that I relate all my research to the assignment, every detail, good effort. But note that in the future be taking the time constraint as consideration. I take up too much time for this sharing session.

REFLECTION

Experience :

The workload for this project is really heavy while the need to prepare 20 logos every week, the project is the topic I am in interest actually. But when all other module's work is heavy and the time needed to be spent on this project has occupied most of the time as research and cross-checking the data to make sure whether it is accurate or updated is really time-consuming. This eventually makes me neglected another project for this module as most of my energy has spent on this project. Unfortunately, the mark for this project is only 10%, which I think is too little compare to the workload and time to spend on it. Besides, I also experiencing to explore a proper way to categorize the content I want to present, with trying different approaches and settled with the one I most get used to it at the end.

Observation :

I understand that this project is to get us exposed to as much logos as possible within a time frame, but when the workload is so heavy and turns out only 5 mins presentation time every week is pathetic. I can see that everyone is losing their passion for doing this project, that we have no choice to put minimal effort on this project as the logo developing and the creative brief project is much more important.

Findings :

This project does help me to know about many brand story and some of their design decision, is a good start, at least make me aware of which aspect to look at when comes to dissecting and analyzing the logo. This is starting to become one of my habits when hanging outside.

FURTHER READING

Deconstructing Logo Design by Matthew Healey

This book consists of logo designs—analysed, giving readers a clear understanding of the process and specific details of a logo, how to target your market and also convey brand values. The book states that deconstructing a logo design will be beneficial when it comes to designing a successful and targeted logos, as well as helping in explaining to future clients how and why they suit and fit the brief.

I picked up this book as I felt that it will be helpful for me to read up on and understand the details of a logo. It will also help me when I'm analysing logos for this project.

The analysis includes the client, brand story, studio, art director, designer, typeface, colour and design approach. There are also labels pointing out from the logos that explains what the parts/elements mean.
