In this exercise, we are to design a set of playing cards including the box itself base on one of the following styles:
• Vintage
• Minimalist
• Retro
• Contemporary
• Typography
I have chosen a Contemporary Style in this exercise. My idea is to present the dissection for each fruit, so when the player holding the cards is like they are holding a slice of a certain type of fruits. Various of vibrant colour is chosen to bring out the healthy and delicious fruits that provide essential vitamins. As this kind of design might not suitable to be used in the formal condition, hence it is designed for teenagers and youth as a playing card.

Week 03
As Mr Shamsul advised me to add in more character and maybe reconsider the background of it, hence other than thinking of box and character design, I also trying to figure out possibilities of how the character works well in the different background as it is colourful enough. I want to avoid visual noise in my work.

Feedback
Week 01
13/04/20
For the loose item, I have three options and Mr.Shamsul selected brush and handmade soap for my exercise 1. Originally I have selected no.4 for handmade soap and no. 1 for brush packaging. After asking for advice from Mr.Shamsul, he recommends me to go with no. 1 for handmade soap as the customer can still see the product and selected no. 7 for the brush. Not go to labelling design yet and show him the mockup in the next class.
Week 02
20/04/20
The design for handmade soap is good, very strong as there is double fold. The brush is fine as it doesn't need protection as the product itself is strong enough, packaging purpose here is mainly for labelling only and windows to let the customer feel the texture. This can be my final or could adjust a bit more. The window didn't cut smoothly but can accept at this lockdown period. Need to redo and submit a nicer one during the final. Find a good angle to take a photo and upload on your portfolio.
Week 03
27/04/20
General Feedback:
Consider how user take in and take out the cards, is it convenience? The packaging itself better to have educational information. For example, suggested games and their tutorial, consider as you design for a beginner card player. For the back of cards, should have the same design throughout all as people do not want others to know their cards on hand
Individual Feedback:
Mr Shamsul like the idea, it is interesting, can go for contemporary design. He advised me to redesign the icon for heart, diamond etc, with interpreting the elements of fruits into it. Maybe the heart could be created with the shape of a strawberry. Mr Shamsul likes the illustration for the king, make sure the queen has the same style. While realizing there is a different style in my design, we standardize it by setting a fruit background with a character in front of.
