Week 07
The book is A5 size, no need copyright, detail requirement refer to MIB. By next week I need to show sample design, colour scheme and mainly focus on refining literature review.
I can put sub-topics to categorize the articles, and diss cuss the content, show in-text citation and must link to my message. Maximum words count is 900. No need to show bibliography, the title should be literature review instead of critical review. If all m 7 articles are similar in terms of topic, then I can discuss the sections using methodology....structure...and so on.
For design, Ms Jinchi agrees to use a clean line and 1 colour as she prefers straight forward design. Looks like I am quite clear with my direction but just consider the colour when linking it to my case study.
Week 08
• Critical Discussion: Able to identify the important graphical elements that make meaning and create effective communication by studying two websites. Able to hold a coherent discussion to address the research problem but tends to skim at the surface of things without a thorough investigation, e.g. when explaining about colour of the body text of Haidilao website, assumptions are made.
• Application of research: Secondary research and visual analysis data applied accordingly but very little from the survey is found.
• Written communication skills: Quite good writing skills and able to communicate fairly clearly but needs to check for typographical errors before final submission.
• Overall structure: Contents page is incomplete (no page numbers indicated for most of the contents), all pages in the dissertation are not numbered. Need to have a clearer introduction for Visual Analysis in Results/Findings. Interviews are missing in Research Methodology. More detailed comments are found in Google Docs. The overall contents are in sequence.
• References, picture credits, appendices: Applied accordingly.
Week 09
The cover looks flat, colour needs to be more contrasting. Maybe not to show the whole webpage but only close up/ abstract. Take out all the not important element. The other design looks ok but needs to be larger, the name locates under the title with the same alignment. smaller bg border and try to apply the graphical element in the only webpage.
Throughout the book, it is ok to show the webpage look in the spread, but the title looks too comic style. The style just as same as the simply chocolate website is good, apply that. No outline, only fill with black colour.
Overall, play with the colour, now it looks too smooth, makes it contrasting and more interesting. The layout might no need to show exactly a "website""look, but observe the layout applied on a webpage and try to mimic it in some way, abstract or close up. Apply the principle of gestalt. The similarity of both cases studies are white space, this might work.
Week 10
The cover looks way much better than the previous work. Good to have a brighter colour compare to the colour extract from the case studies. But the red might use back the colour in case studies. So that it has more consistency. The title is either "conveying brand messages" or "Conveying a brand message" and "on websites", not "on the website".

Week 7
29/05/20
The first idea is to use the idea of browsing on the website to go through the book. Dr Jinchi has said that this idea could work but some of my visuals are too complicated. For colour wise, Dr Jinchi advise me to use white as this is the similarity among both case studies.

After considering feedback from Dr Jinchi, I have decided to go with a more simple layout, while focusing on the relationship with graphical elements instead of website feeling.
