Exercise 01
05/04/19 - week 1
Key elements:
| Hue & Saturation | Colour matching | Shadow Painting | Noise | Opacity |
After the very first introduction to photoshop, we are assigned to put in ourselves into a given image which is Heart Mansion.
Figure 1.1 Heart Mansion
I have taken photos of me with some interaction with the place as I want the photo to be not boring but still look real so I think of some action that can be used in this kind of place.
Figure 1.2 Selected photo of myself
Finally I selected photo of me looking down and trying to edit me into the image as I am looking at the reflection of me.

Exercise 02
09/04/19 - week 2
Key elements:
| Vector Mask | Blending Mode | Match Colour | Opacity |
In the tutorial we are given elements of a wooden house, a ghost and a background of dark sky. We are to combine elements together to create a ghost house. In this exercise, I need to mask off the background for the house just to remain the parts that we need and next is to match the colour of the house with the background and also to adjust its hue and saturation in order to make it look like "it's there"
Figure 2.1 Elements Provided
I did realize that we can switch between hard brush and soft brush while masking just to remove the things according to different situation. For example, I would use soft brush to mask off the edge of a bushes as it is has certain complexity their and soft brush give it a feather effect so that it won't look like suddenly cut off.
Figure 2.2 Final Outcome (Exercise 02A)
Next, we are to use the same skills as taught in the tutorial to create another work to blend a old house into a beautiful background. I have selected a sunset sky, paddy field and a old wooden house as my basic elements. Using a very small size soft brush in masking the horizon of the paddy field just to make the horizon clearer at the same time but still need to have some minimal feather along the edge of it.
Figure 2.3 Sunset Background
At the final stage I did add some noise to the sky as the quality of the house is not that good. One thing I have learnt here is that whenever want to standardize the clarity of images, lower the clarity of high quality one always easier than fix the blurrer one.

Exercise 03
16/04/19 - week 3
Key elements:
| Brush tool | Blending Mode | Hue & Saturation | Opacity |
In this week we have learnt recolour of black and white portraits using brush tool and apply on blending mode.
Figure 3.1 original black and white portrait
In order to colour the background in a more efficient way, we need to create a new layer and use masking tool to select the edge of the person and then invert the mask by using Ctrl + I. Then using Shift + Backspace to fill in the layer and testing on blending mode. There is something to consider while colouring things, some cannot be coloured in a abnormal colour(e.g. skin), some are allowed(e.g. hair) if we want to go make it look realistic. Since this is a old guy, he couldn't have a bright white skin but instead a dull skin might suit him better.
Figure 3.2 Final Outcome (Exercise 03A)
When comes to exercise, I have done my first attempt with colouring this little girl. The feedback was the detail is great but is the photo not chosen well hence make her face cannot be seen clearly and Mr. Jeffrey suggest me to work on a new one.

Figure 3.4 Selecting Photos
Here is my final outcome but one thing could be done better is that the colour of her hair should be shining bright gold or white, but I couldn't create that shiny colour. After awhile actually I thought I might achieve that colour I want to create try creating a new layer and testing on different blending mode, brightness and opacity.

Exercise 04
23/04/19 - week 4
Key elements:
| Displacement Map | Blending Mode | Hue & Saturation | Opacity |
Displacement map is a functional tool to let the top layer which is fat could sit well on a certain texture or background. In this tutorial, we were to replace the skin of the old man we recoloured with the scale of snake.

Figure 4.6 Final Outcome (Exercise 04B)
In the exercise, I want to create a mermaid and hence replacing of fish scale onto a beautiful lady's face. The detail here is that I actually create a shadow and some reflection on the water and also applying displacement map to make the scale that immersed in the water looks real underwater.. Also adding on few layers with different opacity in different parts in the shadow to make the shoulder not look so solid under the water.

Exercise 05
29/04/19 - week 5
Key elements:
| Vector Mask | Blending Mode | Hue & Saturation | Match Colour | Opacity |
After gone through every exercises, we are given a new exercise to recreate the art work: Rene Magritte using our own texture or generated images, it must be a HD portrait (1080 x 1920 @ 72 dpi)
Below are the images that I found :
Using a stone as the main body of the sky island and mixing the grass surface from a mountain as the surface of the island. I have try on combination of different sky to obtain the most satisfied perspective as saw from the sky. Besides, taking advice of Mr. Jeffrey as I need a foreground to form the overall composition.
