INTRODUCING TO ADOBE PREMIERE PRO

Lecture 1: Introduction to Modules
28/08/19 - week 1

There is no formal lecture but a briefing for this module instead which including marks distribution, exercises and projects overview as well as module learning outcome. Besides, Mr. Martin did explain to us the way of taking a good video is from different perspective and has make us realized spending effort in making a good video is very very time consuming and require a lot of work in different positions. Storyboard, camera, lightings, audio, actors are all playing an important role in it.

Shooting Practice: Cinematory
In this week, we are required to take different shots of video in group of 2 or 3 with the references and requirements shown below:

Figure 3.1 Shooting Practice (Reference)

Figure 3.2 Shooting Practice (Reference)

Video shown below are video taken following requirement as shown in the reference. At this stage, I found that there is some tricky part when I want to use different technique at the same time(e.g. tele angle. C.O shot, O.S shot). We need to spend some time to discuss and manipulate with the angle so that could get the desired outcome. Another thing to notice is that Mr. Martin did mentioned normally videos are taken at eye level, We did not notice this problem at first but we retake the videos at eye level after all.

Introduction to Adobe Audition

We were given 7 audio files with the same music but in different equalizer settings. The task for this exercise was to match the sound of the 6 different tracks to the original music through manipulation of Parametric Equalizer.

Telephone Sound Effect

Mr. Razif was firstly taught us on how to transform a conversation into the sound effect of voice come form old phone. Increase the treble and lowering the bass has success transformed it into the sound effect come from old phone. But with further adjustment by lowering the audio quality through reducing of mid range in Paramatic EQ has brings out more characteristic of a old phone.

Walky-Talky Sound Effect

From the sound effect of telephone, we can modify it into talky-talky sound effect with the manipulation of gain and input boost to increase the distortion.

Conversation inside a Closet

We are to create the sound effect of someone is talking inside the closet wit the knowledge we have learnt in the previous 2 exercises.

Figure 3.9 Equaliser Adjustment (Inside of a Closet)

One tricky part I have made here is that I want to lower the grain but the volume become lower hence, I increase the input boost to bring back the volume.

Stadium Announcement (Indoor)

In this exercise, I have decided to create a sound effect inside a indoor stadium. Below are adjustment done in Adobe Audition. Another thing we learnt is to add echo using the "Echo"and "Delay" effect within the Rack Effects.

Final Project Brainstorming

Preparation of Final Project
In order to have an vision of our final project, we are required to select 3 stop motion video as our reference.

The Egg Escape
From here i am lookin at its interesting characters which is eggs that make the whole story come alive. Besides, it is small scale stop motion which match Mr. Martin requirement to show the details. Sound effect of cute eggs is another bonus to this. There is only minimal use of tools but pretty much rely on the manipulation of the clay itself which might be the obstacle here. Clay could be easily change it's shape which might affect the consistency and fluency.

Stop Motion Pizza
There is another way to make stop motion video: a process of making something. From this example, it is the process of making the pizza. It has inspired me on recording the process of making something that could transfer a normal record video into a much more funny video. With a detail noticed by me, it has clean the table every shot but leave the pathway of fruits after moving wet to make the scene looks real.

Shiny
The interaction between clothes and motion has shaped out the scene and makes the character come to live. It contains some technique of taking stop motion video which is to create a changing in perspective by only placement of the clothes, slow motion and splash effect with the placement of beans on the floor. Besides, it has some details such as wind blow on clothes.

Stop Motion Idea Sharing

My stop motion IDEA is the adventure story of small creatures, quit related to "Toy Story". I will do Clay and objects. The VISUAL STYLE is more towards a bright environment while considering the interaction with objects.
Figure 2.1 Visual Style of my Stop Motion Video

The selling point of my stop motion project is lively interaction between character with catching and cute sound effect as well as interaction between character and the objects around our daily routine.
